The Air Goes Electric
The October 26 Full Moon lands at the first degree of Aries with Pluto squaring both lights and Chiron sitting on the Moon. Fast, raw, and under pressure.
After a month spent almost entirely in Virgo, the sky changes register without warning.
The Full Moon perfects at 04:12 UTC on October 26, at 1.11 degrees of Aries. Eight hours later the Sun squares Pluto. The event data describes the lunation as lighting the spark and the fight at once, and adds a one-line warning that is worth carrying into the week: heat without aim spills as conflict.
A Full Moon at the first degree of Aries
The Moon crossed into Aries only hours before going full. It reaches its exact opposition to the Sun at barely a degree into the sign.
That placement has a particular quality. The first degree of any sign is the unformed version of it, and the unformed version of Aries is pure ignition with nothing built on top: the impulse before the plan, the heat before the aim. There is no Aries experience yet at one degree, only Aries appetite.
A Full Moon is the most exposed moment in the lunar cycle, the point where whatever has been building becomes fully visible. Putting that exposure at the first degree of the most impatient sign in the sky produces something fast, raw and unsubtle. Whatever comes up comes up at full volume and without much shape.
Pluto at the apex
Now the part that makes this more than a loud evening.
Pluto squares the Sun within three-tenths of a degree. At a Full Moon the Moon sits exactly opposite the Sun, so Pluto is squaring both lights at once. One planet, hard angles to the whole lunation, and tight enough that there is no wriggle room in the geometry.
Our own note on the Sun-Pluto contact is blunt. Power does not ask. It corners. The only move is rebuilding the room.
Put that underneath an unformed Aries Full Moon and the shape of the week is legible. Raw heat meets an immovable pressure, and the immovable thing is usually structural: an institution, a hierarchy, a financial reality, somebody with actual authority over the situation. Aries wants to charge it. Pluto does not move when charged.
This is the configuration where people quit jobs in the afternoon and regret it by Thursday. It is also the configuration where something that has been quietly intolerable finally gets named out loud, which is the version worth having.
Chiron is sitting on the Moon
There is a third body in this, four degrees from the Moon and across the boundary in late Pisces.
Chiron conjunct the Moon at a lunation this raw means the spark lands next to an old sore spot. Whatever flares up on the 26th is unlikely to be a brand new grievance. It is far more likely to be the current edition of something with a history, which is why the reaction may arrive out of proportion to the thing that triggered it.
That is useful to know in advance, if only for the sake of the hour afterwards. Disproportionate heat is a signal that an old wound is in the circuit, and the old wound is the more interesting subject.
Venus is still in the heart of the Sun
Two days earlier the Sun and Venus met at the same degree of Virgo, and at the Full Moon they are still only three degrees apart, with Venus opposing the Moon from the Sun’s side.
So the values question is in the room too. What flares up is likely to concern something you care about: a relationship, a piece of work, an arrangement whose fairness has been on your mind since early October. The irritation has a subject, and the subject is something that matters to you.
What to do with heat that has no aim
The caution attached to this lunation is one sentence, and it names the failure precisely. Heat without aim spills as conflict.
Aries energy is not a problem to be managed. It is the most useful raw material in the chart for starting something, and a Full Moon’s worth of it is a considerable resource. The trouble is that unaimed force does not sit quietly waiting for a target. It finds one, and what it finds tends to be whoever is nearest rather than whatever is actually the obstacle.
The practical version: decide what the obstacle is before the evening of the 26th. If you know what you are pushing against, this lunation gives you a great deal of push. If you do not, it goes into the nearest available argument, and the following morning is spent on repairs that had nothing to do with the real problem.
Practical notes
- October 26, 04:12 UTC: Full Moon at Aries 1.11. 12:04 UTC: Sun square Pluto exact, in orb October 21 to 31.
- Name the obstacle first. One line, written down, before the day. Unaimed Aries heat finds a target on its own and picks badly.
- Do not quit, send, or confront on the day. Mercury turned retrograde on the 24th, which makes the 26th a poor date for anything irreversible. If the thing still looks true in November, it was true.
- Watch for disproportion. With Chiron on the Moon, a reaction much larger than its trigger is pointing at an older subject. That is information, not a malfunction.
- The useful version: something intolerable gets named. Naming it is enough for one evening; rebuilding the room can start once Mercury is direct.
