Does Astrology Really Work?

Let me start by saying this:
I don’t use astrology to predict lottery numbers, divine the future, or explain world politics.

But I’ve seen astrology - real astrology - do something quietly astonishing:
It helps people understand themselves. And I don’t mean “vague inspiration poster” understand. I mean deep, soul-level, oh-that’s-why-I-do-that kind of understanding.

🗞️ Why I Didn't Believe

For most of my life, I didn’t really believe in astrology.
The newspaper horoscopes never fit. (Yes, I’m old enough to remember when people actually read newspapers.)
I was told I was a Scorpio - and while that sounded cool, it never really felt like me.

And honestly, it seemed unscientific.
Like, how could the planets possibly affect our lives? The gravitational pull of Mars isn’t exactly keeping anyone up at night.

But then a conversation with a friend got me to reconsider when she remarked that some of the big transformations that were happening in my life were probably because of my Saturn return.

It was a new concept to me, but looking into it (and it is a very popular idea these days in the cultural zeitgeist that is TikTok), it just ... fit.
And it made sense that the timing of Saturn's orbit matched with some of the key personal identity transformations in life. Just before 30 and just before 60 - those are times of some deep "what has life taught me" kind of moments.

Trying to impress her with my newfound interest, I found a website where I learned that my Saturn placement in my natal chart at 23°40' in Pisces.
When I told her, she thought for a moment and said it was really more like 1° Pisces - because tropical placements don’t reflect where the planets were actually positioned in the sky..

I should find my sidereal placement if I wanted the real deal.

🔭 The Value of the Real Sky

I checked out what true sidereal was all about, and found a natal chart generator online that showed where the stars really were in the sky when I was born.

My “Sun sign” changed. So did my rising. So did everything else.
And suddenly, the chart felt alive. Not predictive, but reflective. Not “you will meet a stranger,” but here’s the map your soul brought with it.

This isn’t about fate. It’s about patterns - the archetypes that show up again and again when you look at your life from above.
And you know what? Psychology does the same thing.

Most people wouldn’t call the MBTI or Enneagram “scientific,” but we still use them to understand ourselves.
Why? Because they work. They give us language for who we are, how we move through life, and what we’re here to grow into.

Real sky astrology does the same - don't spend time classifying if it is magic or math. Spend time understanding and using it as a mirror and a map.

🪞 The Chart as Mirror

So… does astrology “work”?
That depends what you mean by “work.”

If you mean, does it reflect the structure and texture of my life in a way that helps me grow, understand, and forgive myself?
Then yes. Absolutely.

Is it scientific? Well - it uses precise measurement as one of its tools, but if you're talking experimental evidence, then no.

But quite a few mainstream and reputable tools people use to understand themselves, like MBTI or Enneagrams aren't backed by experimental evidence either.

But if you’re open to the idea that your soul might be part of a bigger pattern -
and that the sky is a map you brought with you…

Then I think you’ll find that astrology doesn’t need to be “real” in the scientific sense.
It just needs to feel true as a description of the experience of being on your life's journey.
