Cazimis and Double Conjunctions are Jupiter's Opening Acts
If you’re keeping track of the motion of the bodies in the sky, this is shaping up to be a very busy weekend and upcoming week. On Saturday, Mercury retrograde passes directly between Earth and the Sun for a brief, sharp moment of clarity in the middle of the retrograde fog. Then Venus spends the weekend walking through a conjunction with Neptune and Saturn back-to-back; it’s kind of the astrological equivalent of falling in love on Saturday and meeting the parents on Sunday.
Then early next week, it will be the bigger event — Jupiter stations direct on Wednesday. But that gets its own post so more on that soon! For now, the spotlight is on Mercury and Venus.
The Cazimi: Mercury Retrograde Meets the Sun (March 7)
Saturday, retrograde Mercury passes directly between Earth and the Sun at 17 degrees Aquarius. In traditional astrology, this is called a cazimi — the moment a planet sits in the heart of the Sun. Whatever Mercury retrograde has been churning — the old conversation, the half-finished idea, the decision you’ve been sitting on — gets a flash of clarity here.
Don’t act on it yet, though. This isn’t the moment. Mercury is still retrograde, still moving backward through Aquarius. But it’s the moment to see it clearly. Write it down. The cazimi is brief, only giving a few hours of sharp signal in a noisy week. If something clicks into focus on Saturday, pay attention. That’s the retrograde delivering its message.
Aquarius gives this cazimi a particular flavor. The clarity is likely to land in the territory of groups, systems, and the question of where you actually fit in the communities and causes you’ve aligned yourself with. Not whether you belong, but whether you’re showing up as yourself or performing a role. Mercury retrograde in Aquarius has been reviewing that question since February. The cazimi is the moment the answer gets bright enough to read.
Venus in Pisces: The Dream, Then the Test (March 7-8)
Venus has a double feature this week, and the back-to-back timing is the story.
On Saturday, Venus conjuncts Neptune in Pisces. Everything gets softer. Relationships, aesthetics, values — all of it takes on a gauzy, idealized quality. It’s a beautiful day for art, music, or letting yourself feel something without analyzing it. Less ideal for signing contracts or making permanent romantic decisions. Neptune conjunctions are gorgeous and unreliable in equal measure.
Then on Sunday, Venus conjuncts Saturn in Pisces. The dream meets the structure. Whatever felt beautiful and boundless yesterday now gets asked: is this real? Can it hold weight? Venus-Saturn isn’t cold — it’s honest. Relationships and creative projects that survive both days have something solid underneath. The ones that felt magical on Saturday but hollow on Sunday were probably built on atmosphere.
This double conjunction is a 48-hour test of what you value. And it’s happening against the backdrop of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction that went exact on February 20th and is still within orb. Venus walking over both planets in sequence is a personal-scale replay of that generational theme: dreams meeting structure, idealism finding form. Whatever the Saturn-Neptune conjunction is doing on the world stage, this weekend you get to feel it in your own life — in miniature, through your relationships and your sense of what’s beautiful.
Notice what’s still standing on Monday. That’s real.
Mercury, Venus and Jupiter taking centre stage this week
Saturday, March 7 Mercury (retrograde) conjunct Sun in Aquarius (Pisces if you swing tropical) — the cazimi. Brief clarity mid-retrograde. Notice what surfaces. Venus conjunct Neptune in Pisces — dreamy, idealistic, beautiful. Create. Don’t decide.
Sunday, March 8 Venus conjunct Saturn in Pisces — yesterday’s dream meets today’s structure. What’s real stays.
Monday, March 9 Mercury (retrograde) trine Jupiter (retrograde) in Aquarius/Gemini — big ideas flow, both planets in review mode. Good for revisiting plans, not launching new ones.
Tuesday, March 10 Venus sextile Pluto in Pisces/Capricorn — subtle intensity in relationships. Depth surfaces without drama.
Wednesday, March 11 Jupiter stations direct in Gemini (16.8°) — four months of review ends. Forward motion resumes. Full breakdown coming soon, but you’ve got a few eventful days to get through first!
